What to expect

Four tiers of accommodation

Tanzania's national parks offer an extraordinary range of places to sleep under the stars. Whether you want to keep costs low and stay close to the raw wilderness, or you prefer to arrive at camp to a cold gin & tonic and a private plunge pool overlooking the savanna - we work with properties at every level. Below is an honest guide to what each tier feels like on the ground.

Public Campsites

The most affordable and adventurous option. Public campsites sit inside national park boundaries - you are truly in the wild. Nights can be electric: hyenas circling the perimeter, lions calling in the distance. This is raw, unfiltered Africa.

  • Basic shared facilities (long-drop toilets, cold bucket showers or none)
  • You sleep in basic tents. We supply a camp cook
  • No fences - wildlife passes freely through camp
  • Ideal for adventurous travellers, overlanders, and tight budgets
  • From approx. $30–60 per person per night (site fee + guide)

Best for: backpackers, budget group tours, travellers who want the most immersive wilderness experience.

  • All meals included, often with a bar
  • Friendly communal areas with fire pit or lounge
  • From approx. $150–350 per person per night (full board)
